Melben is placing a CNC Machinist on second shift at a manufacturer in Ellwood City, Pennsylvania. This is a direct hire role on the employer's payroll, with one opening. The job is to set up and run CNC machines, not just load parts.
The machinist sets up the work from start to finish. That means putting tools in the machine, setting offsets, and running the first good part. You read blueprints and check your own parts with mics and calipers. The work includes running larger parts on horizontal boring mills, horizontal machining centers, or large lathes where you have the experience.
The employer wants at least one year of hands-on CNC machining and is looking for a hands-on machinist, not a desk-only programmer, engineer, supervisor, or shop manager. Experience with setup work, editing programs at the control, or using Mastercam or GibbsCAM is a plus. Pay is $21.58 to $25.99 per hour depending on experience.
Responsibilities
- Set up CNC machines, including tool installation and offset setting
- Run the first good part and verify it against the blueprint
- Machine parts to print using mics, calipers, and other inspection tools
- Run larger parts on horizontal boring mills, machining centers, or large lathes
- Edit or write programs at the machine control as needed
Requirements
- At least 1 year of hands-on CNC machining experience
- Ability to read and work from blueprints
- Hands-on setup work, not only loading parts
- Comfortable working second shift, Monday to Thursday
