Melben is placing two CNC Machinists on first shift at a manufacturer in East Palestine, Ohio. This is a direct-hire, full-time position on the employer's payroll. The pay runs from $20 to $27 per hour, depending on experience.
This job is for a machinist who sets up CNC machines himself. You put in the tools, set the offsets and run the first good part before the machine goes into production. Loading parts alone is not the job. You should be able to read a blueprint and check your own work with mics and calipers.
You need at least one year of hands-on CNC machining. Work at the control, or programming in Mastercam or another CAM system, is a plus. Experience on horizontal boring mills or other large part machines is also useful. If you are mainly a desk-only programmer, engineer, supervisor or shop manager right now, this role is not a fit.
Responsibilities
- Set up CNC machines: install tools, set offsets and zero the work
- Run the first good part and confirm it to print before full production
- Machine parts to blueprint dimensions
- Check finished parts with mics, calipers and other gauges
- Keep your machine running and make in-process adjustments
Requirements
- At least 1 year of hands-on CNC machining experience
- Sets up his own machines, not only loads parts
- Reads blueprints
- Available for first shift, 5:30 AM to 4 PM, Monday to Thursday
